Green Woodworking – Make Your Own Stool

Course Description

Green woodworking Course – Make Your Own Rustic Wooden Stool Weekend: Learn a new skill and craft your own beautiful but simple three legged milking stool using green woodworking and rustic furniture techniques. On this residential green woodworking course you will learn to use a shave horse and draw knife, fashion tenons and mortises, learn about green woodworking techniques while meeting interesting people and enjoying the Pembrokeshire scenery.

Skill Level

This course is suitable for all abilities and is aimed at anyone who would like to make a three or four legged stool or has an interest in rustic furniture making and traditional crafts.

Course Tutors

Your primary tutor for this weekend is Rob Goodsell who will also be assisted by Daniel Jackson.


This course will run during the weekend of the 4th to 6th October 2019 with arrival and dinner on the Friday evening and ending on the Sunday afternoon.


There are a maximum of 7 places on this course, course participants can also bring a friend or partner to share their room.

Green Woodworking Course Itinerary

Friday 4th October

Guests are invited to arrive from 4:00pm onward.

Dinner will be between 6:00-7:00pm, if you are likely to arrive later please let us know.

Following dinner there will be a short talk on green woodworking: 7:30-8:30pm

Saturday 5th October

Breakfast served between 8am until 9am

The course starts at 9:30am until 12:30pm including a short break for coffee.

Lunch will be between 12:30 until 1:30pm.

The course resumes at 1:30pm until 4:30pm with a short break for tea.

Dinner: 6:00 until 7:00pm.

Sunday 6th October

Breakfast served from 8am until 9am

The course starts at 9:30am until 12:30pm including a short break for coffee.

Lunch will be between 12:30 until 1:30pm

The course resumes at 1:30pm until 3pm

3pm Course end/ vacate rooms.



The costs below are for the course tuition, all materials, use of tools, two nights stay and also full catering:

This course is also open to non-residential students. The price for non-residential guests is £140 for the Saturday and Sunday sessions. It includes tuition, lunch and all materials.


Please let us know in advance if you have any special dietary requirements and we will of course do our best to cater for your needs. We can cater for food intolerances but if you have an allergy we would need to discuss the catering arrangements with you as all the food will be prepared in the same room.

The catering is vegan/ vegetarian.

The catering will include the following:

Breakfasts & morning biscuits and coffee.

Lunch (buffet/ sandwiches/ soup/ salad) as well as afternoon tea and cake.

Dinner (two options) and pudding.

We aren’t licensed but you are more than welcome to bring alcohol.

Health & safety

Please let us know if you have any disabilities because the double rooms in Harmony and Sunset are up alternate tread stairs. Harmony especially is steep and unsuitable for someone with mobility difficulties. The double room in The Workshop is accessed by a regular staircase and all the downstairs twin rooms also have large wet room/ shower rooms which are on the same level.


We require a deposit of £100 to book your place with the remainder to be paid 6 weeks before the course starts.

Opportunities to explore & stay on

If you would like to stay on and explore the area you are most welcome. This would be on a self catered basis and the cost would be an additional £50 per bedroom per night. Rooms will need to be vacated by 10am on the Monday or Tuesday, of course if you would like to book for longer you are more than welcome please contact us for more information.
